Blue Chicken Eggs

Ameraucana chickens lay blue eggs.  The inside of the shell is blue also.  Some chickens also lay green eggs because of the brown pigment added by the hen's body to the outside of the shell.  The inside of these green eggs will still be light blue.  It has been reported that some chickens in South America (the original source of these blue-egg-laying chickens) lay other exotic colors such as bright orange eggs!  FeatherSite.com is a great source for more information about the various breeds of chickens around the world.
